Ramanaidu honoured with Dada Saheb Phalke award

Over the last 47 years, he has been a prolific producer of over 130 films in several Indian languages and finds mention in the Guinness Book of Records. Apart from Telugu films, he has the distinction of producing movies in Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi and Bhojpuri.

Veteran filmmaker D Ramanaidu has been honoured with the Dada Saheb Phalke award for the year 2009 for his outstanding contribution to the world of Indian cinema.

Ramanaidu will be presented the award during the International Film Festival of India to be held in Goa in October. The award consists of a 'Swarn Kamal', a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and a shawl.

Born in Karamchedu in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh in 1936, Ramanaidu entered the film world in 1963 with his first film 'Anuragam' followed by the superhit 'Ramudu-Bheemudu' starring legendary actor N T Rama Rao in 1964.
